Description
He [Lutyens] fought hard for a non-Gothic design as this drawing shows – his building taking the form of a centrally planned church with three radiating wings. This sketch elevation and perspective shows entrance steps leading up to the open, columnar narthex with overhanging chujjas and a great dome behind. The low viewpoint in the perspective underscores the intended monumentality of the design. (Richardson, 1994, p.74)
