Description

Lower down on the corner of Datchet Road, the MONUMENT to George V, ‘first sovereign of the house of Windsor’, 1937 by Lutyens. Portland stone. Centre, a crown on a blocky base. To l. and r. wide, shallow basins. In a line of descent from earlier tripartite memorials by Lutyens, e.g. at Northampton, but not his finest hour. (Tyack et al, 2010, p.710)
