Description
Weston, Britwell Drive, ¾ m. sw. On the cliff top, a curious late house by Lutyens, 1927 for Sir Alfred Fripp (completed by the client). Brick, with extensive tile roofs, looking more at home in Surrey. A brilliant split-level plan on a steep slope, with direct access to the ground from each floor. Typical Tudor–Georgian vernacular detail. Otherwise surprisingly low-key for Lutyens. (Hill et al, 2018, p.638)Bibliography
